The Pool and Tie Beams are Ready for Concrete
Things are moving quickly for Perrone Construction at Villa Azure and we can hardly keep up with the project updates so we are going to spend some time and get a few out over the next day or two. As of today the second floor trusses have been set and sheathed but before we fill you in on that we need to update you on all that has happened between last post and now.
What is a home construction tie beam and whats involved?
The role of the tie beam in home construction is to tie the entire structure together. The tie beam is also the landing place for floor trusses and the beams also support upper level structure. These beams are carefully planned and specified by the project engineer and each one may call for a different size or a different amount of steel reinforcement. The beams are formed with plywood and braced, steel is then bent and placed according to specification and then it is all inspected prior to the pour. The concrete is pumped into place as soon as it arrives through a boom pump. As trucks arrive the tickets are checked to assure conformance with design mix specifications and to assure that the concrete has not been on the truck too long. As the concrete is pumped in place a vibratory tool is inserted into the form to assure that there are no air pockets. Next we’ll be installing ledgers and floor trusses!
